Disney-Hyperion’s Frozen is the latest film from Disney and Hyperion’s newest project, the company said Monday.
The film will be released Dec. 21.
“This is the most ambitious, innovative and captivating feature ever made,” said John Lasseter, Disney’s chairman and CEO.
“It is a spectacular movie with the greatest star power and most exciting new characters to ever grace the screen.”
The film’s stars include Idina Menzel, Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Hemsworth.
Disney said it is releasing the movie in three theaters and in more than 60 countries in 35 languages.
The new Frozen will be directed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who has worked on Disney animated feature films.
It is the fourth film directed by Lassett, the last two of which were Pixar movies.
“The team at Hyperion is in the best position to deliver this exciting new film,” said Lassetep.
“Kristen and the team at Disney are so excited to continue to create the most authentic and thrilling experiences for fans.”
The release of the film marks the second time Disney and Lassette have collaborated on a film.
Disney made the Frozen-themed Frozen ride at Disneyland Paris in 2016 and in 2019 opened its own ride at the theme park in Shanghai, China.
Disney released the film in two parts in January and December last year.
It also released the Disney Infinity 3.0 game in October, along with an animated short film.
Hyperion has also released several films in the past.
Disney’s latest, Captain America: Civil War, was released on May 6, 2019.
